The Ridge

The Ridge is one of our most unique projects to date.

Perched on what can only be described as the Hollywood of Clifton Springs, this standalone pool house and entertaining area overlooks the bay, Geelong and the You Yangs with a view that genuinely has to be seen to be believed.

Wrapped around a 12m x 5.5m infinity edge lap pool with an inbuilt spa, the project was designed to sit subtly within the backyard while still carrying an incredible presence. From the moment you walk down the stairs from the existing home above, the entire space opens into a series of entertaining zones that feel connected to the water, the view and the surrounding property.

The clients came to us on this project with plans already completed and the pool locked in, allowing us to move quickly through pre construction and into the build itself. Working alongside Mel Wilson Interiors, every selection throughout the project was carefully considered. Inside the pool house, the Porter’s Paint French Wash walls, natural stone detailing, rattan inlay joinery, feature lighting, lining board finishes and bathroom selections all work together seamlessly to create a space that feels warm, relaxed and incredibly refined.

Teaming up with Icon Pools to bring the pool itself to life, the entire project was completed in seven months, including the Christmas break. One moment where we are super proud is the final push we gave this project before the break. We had eight of our carpenters on site installing almost a full kilometre of blackbutt decking wrapping throughout the entire outdoor area. This massive effort allowed us to get the pool fence installed and achieve compliance in January as soon as we returned, meaning we could get water in the pool and giving the clients the back end of summer to enjoy the space the way it was intended.

Building on a site with almost six metres of fall across only 20 metres was no small feat. That natural fall across the site is what gives the pool house such a presence from below. From down in the backyard, the structure feels commanding, with the architectural insulated panel roof and large open spans creating a serious wow factor. Yet from above, where the existing home sits looking down across the property, the pool house feels surprisingly subtle, sitting lower within the slope of the block, tree line and surrounding landscaped gardens across the acre property meaning you get to enjoy that million dollar view from everywhere.

The house above & fire pit flow through to the deck, outdoor kitchen and natural stone fireplace. The PIK fencing frames the deck without taking anything away from the view. Every part of the space connects to the next and none of it fights for attention. Exactly what you want from a space like this.

The Ridge is a beautiful and incredibly unique project, we sure wouldn’t mind one of these in the back yard!
