K came to us with a clear purpose. Her parents' health was deteriorating and she wanted them close, bringing them home to Indented Head in a self-contained dwelling at the rear of the property.

K had already begun the design process with Stuart Miller Designs in Queenscliff when she came to us. We got up to speed quickly, assisted with value managing the drawings and coordinating the finer details to a finalised set of plans. From there we pushed hard through the planning and building permit process, knowing every week mattered.

The design is compact and considered. A two bedroom, one bathroom dwelling sitting at only 83m2, with the laundry tucked into the bathroom to make the most of every square metre. Meeting DDA compliance requirements while also being practical was a must for this project. A wraparound deck and accessible ramp connect the new dwelling back to the existing home and out to the street, and the whole thing looks out across open paddocks at the rear. It is a genuinely beautiful spot.

What gives the home its character is the articulated roofline, a combination of flat and skillion that lifts what could have been a simple box into something worth looking at. K's floral feature tiles in the kitchen were non-negotiable from the moment she saw them, and they play their role perfectly, giving the quite simple finishes a splash of personality and colour. A 16kW solar system with a large battery storage unit means the home is as efficient as it is comfortable, capturing as much energy as the Bellarine sunshine can give.

Six months from breaking ground to handover, we are really proud of that timeline and this cracking little project in general.
